Installation Instructions
Step 1 - Access the Rear Wheel Well
At the rear passenger-side wheel well, use a trim removal tool to remove one plastic clip, followed by two bolts with a 7mm socket. Peel back the fender liner. Then, remove three additional 7mm bolts—two below the side marker plug and one above. Keep track of the bolt lengths, as they differ. Repeat the same process on the driver’s side.
Step 2 - Remove Underside Clips and Splash Shield
Under the vehicle, remove two plastic clips from each side using a trim removal tool. Then, remove the splash shield by taking out two additional clips, one 10mm bolt, and eleven 7mm bolts.
Step 3 - Remove Rear Bumper
Open the trunk and move to either side of the bumper. Pull gently from the released clip area to begin separating the bumper from the vehicle. Repeat on both sides. With a friend or solo, pull from both ends of the bumper to release it completely. Disconnect the tail light connectors and set the bumper aside on a cradle or soft surface.
Step 4 - Access Tail Light Area
Remove the trunk floor and set it aside. Unscrew the four bag hangers and remove the plastic trim. Use a trim removal tool to remove two clips from the trunk liner and peel it back. If your vehicle has a subwoofer, use a 14mm socket to remove the three bolts, unplug it, and remove it. For Dark Horse and Performance Pack models, loosen the control module on the driver’s side by removing two 10mm bolts and one 8mm bolt.
Step 5 - Remove Factory Tail Lights
Disconnect the black tail light connector. From behind the lamp, remove three 8mm bolts. Release the plastic clip shown and gently lower the trim piece—do not remove it entirely, as it remains connected. Then, remove three 10mm nuts and pull the tail lamp away from the vehicle.
Step 6 - Transfer Trim and Magnet
Gently remove the top trim piece and magnet from the OEM lamp and transfer both to your new FORM Lighting tail lamp. Be careful when releasing the plastic clips and magnet.
Step 7 - Configure Your Lighting Features
If your Mustang was built after February 2024, use the included tail light adapter harness. You can find your build date on the driver-side door sill.
Connect the red AMP wire to enable the amber turn signal. Leave it disconnected for a red signal. Leave the blue AMP wires connected to keep the startup sequence or disconnect them to disable it.
Note: If your vehicle has the amber- or red-only version, these connectors will not apply.
Step 8 - Install Tail Light
Feed the AMP and tail light connectors into the trunk and ensure the grommet is properly sealed. Place the new tail lamp on the vehicle, reinstall the three 10mm nuts, and connect the wiring.
If using the adapter harness, turn the vehicle off and hold the brake pedal for 10 seconds to complete programming.
Step 9 - Final Assembly
Test for function. Once confirmed, reverse the steps to reassemble everything and repeat the process on the other side.
